British Airways Quadruples London-Punta Cana Service This Winter

More Seats Between the UK and the Dominican Republic

Travelers heading to the Dominican Republic from the United Kingdom will soon have far more options to choose from. British Airways has confirmed it will significantly boost its service to Punta Cana, moving from a single weekly flight to four per week, according to Dominican Today.

The expansion is part of a broader winter 2026 network shake-up by the carrier, which also includes two brand-new long-haul destinations: Melbourne, Australia and Colombo, Sri Lanka. For the Caribbean specifically, Punta Cana is the standout beneficiary, gaining three additional weekly rotations.

Route Details

The enhanced schedule between London Gatwick (LGW) and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is set to launch on October 25, 2026, just as the Dominican high season begins. Flights will be operated using Boeing 777 widebody aircraft, offering ample capacity for both leisure travelers and tour operators packaging all-inclusive holidays.

What This Means for Travelers

For British holidaymakers, expats, and anyone connecting through London, the increased frequency translates to:

  • More flexibility when booking dates, with options spread across the week rather than a single departure day.
  • Potentially better fares, as added capacity often eases pricing pressure during peak winter months.
  • Easier returns for residents and second-home owners who currently have to plan around limited UK direct service.
  • Improved connectivity for travelers arriving from across Europe via Gatwick.

Punta Cana remains the Dominican Republic's busiest gateway, serving the resort corridor of Bávaro, Cap Cana, and Uvero Alto. With British Airways joining other UK carriers in expanding Caribbean lift, competition on the route is expected to intensify heading into the winter season.

Planning Your Trip

If you are considering a Dominican Republic getaway between late October 2026 and spring 2027, it may be worth monitoring British Airways' booking platform once the new schedule opens for sale. Package travelers should also check whether their preferred tour operators incorporate the additional frequencies into their winter brochures.
